History of Friends of the Morse Institute Library
The Friends of the Morse Institute Library was established in 1990 by a small group of Natick residents led by Susanne Stern and Maggie DeVries. The Friends received non-profit status (501c3) shortly after being established.
The purpose of the Friends of the Morse Institute Library is to bring together people to:
- Promote the recognition and use of the Morse Institute Library;
- Actively support both financially and intellectually the Morse Institute Library as a center of cultural, educational, and recreational activity;
- Encourage involvement in community affairs and activities.
Book Sales and membership donations have always been the main means of raising funds. The Friends also raise funds by selling Friends wares (tote bags, note cards, aprons, t-shirts) and also by holding various one-time fund raising events such as an antiques appraisal, a wine tasting, and a plant sale.
