Meet Cindy Tylock and Kelley Halchuk, who were elected to the Steering Committee at the Friends’ annual meeting in September 2020.
Cindy Tylock moved to Natick from Shrewsbury with her husband Jim in 2019. You could say that she’s drawn to libraries, living a short walk to the Morse Institute and, in her previous home, walking distance from Shrewsbury’s public library, where she has worked for 12 years. Having moved to Natick as an adult, she saw getting involved in the library as a good way to meet people. She joined the Friends and began volunteering to sort book donations. She says she’s been impressed by the how clearly Natick “believes in the Morse” and supports it financially. And from hands-on experience, she can attest to the volume and quality of books that are donated for the Friends’ sales. Cindy is a native of Queens, NY.

Kelley Halchuk has been a Friends volunteer since 2018, and recently retired from KLA, a Silicon Valley-based semiconductor equipment manufacturing company, after nearly 22 years. She and her husband Tom moved to Natick in 1993, seeking a community in which they could play a part. Living a short walk from Natick Center and the library, she got to know Natick through welcoming neighbors, local businesses, and the Farmers’ Market. They found it an easy place to get involved, and are also active in The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) and the Natick Service Council. She calls the Morse “one of my favorite aspects of living in Natick.” Kelley is originally from Arlington, Texas, and moved to Massachusetts after college.
