Are you curious about what impact the Friends have for Morse Institute Library patrons?

Just ask any of the 15,000 attendees at programs we supported in the fiscal year that ended on August 31!

Working with the Natick Service Council, the Friends have found a way to help feed minds as well as stomachs.

As a holiday gift, the Friends are providing senior clients of the Natick Service Council with vouchers for two free books of their choosing from the Friends’ Book Nook at the library.

This September the Friends marked the tenth anniversary of the Book Nook, the little book store tucked into the Morse Institute Library lobby.

The self-service Book Nook opened on September 1, 2015.

Today, thanks to patrons’ book and media donations and an enthusiastic book-loving community of shoppers, the Nook sells 150-200 books a week and raises $10,000 a year in support of library programs.

For three years, the Friends have sponsored the adult and children’s summer reading programs.  In 2025, close to 200 adults took part in the program, with the theme of “Level Up With Your Library,” and had 799 entries in the reading competition.

There’s a great selection of good condition used books for sale year round at the Friends’ Book Nook in the library lobby.

This is our time to appreciate our Friends members for your enthusiastic support and the Morse Library staff for a remarkable partnership.

The Friends were delighted to provide a little something to go into the backpacks of students in need.
